Artist Statement

I create figurative paintings where portraits and figures emerge from layers of abstraction, texture, and paint; as though they have been waiting beneath the surface all along. Rather than working towards a predetermined outcome, I paint from instinct, emotion, and curiosity, allowing the process to guide the work. My paintings develop through building, reworking, and responding to each mark as it appears. I hope they invite viewers to pause, look closely, and find their own meaning within the work.
